Under notice dated 05.5.2007 the petitioner is required to furnish explanation as to why his firearm licence be not cancelled with reference to the charges as noticed in the said letter.  The fire arm licence has also been placed under suspension pending enquiry. The petitioner has not filed any reply to the notice till date. Petitioner challenges the suspension of his fire arm licence pending enquiry as provided.

In the opinion of the court interest of substantial justice would be served if the proceedings initiated under the notice dated 05.5.2007 are directed to be brought to their logical end in a time bound manner.  It is accordingly directed that the District Magistrate shall conclude the proceedings under the notice dated 05.5.2007 at the earliest possible preferably within a period of four weeks from the date a certified copy of this order is filed before him.

Writ petition stands disposed of.
