Heard counsel for the petitioner and the Learned standing counsel. By consent of the parties, the writ petition is being finally disposed of.
By this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for a mandamus directing the District Magistrate to consider and decide the application filed by the petitioner for grant of arm licence.
The petitioner claim to have made an application in the year 2002 for grant of licence of D.B.B.L. gun. The application is said to be pending. No useful purpose will be served in keeping the writ petition pending and calling for a counter affidavit. In the facts of the present case, ends of justice be served in disposing of the writ petition directing the District Magistrate to consider and take appropriate decision on the application for grant of fire arm licence expeditiously preferably within a period of four moths from the date of production of a certified copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court is not expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim of petitioner and it is for the District Magistrate to consider all aspect of the matters and take appropriate decision in accordance with law.
The writ petition is disposed of with the aforesaid direction.
