The petitioner alleges violation of the judgment and order dated 16.7.2007 passed by this Court in Writ Petition No. 31322 of 2007. The Court disposed of the petition with the direction to the District Magistrate, Azamgarh to consider and decide the application of the petitioner for grant of fire arm licence strictly in accordance with law preferably within a period of six weeks from the date a copy of the order was filed.
It has been stated in the affidavit filed in support of the contempt petition that the copy of the judgment and order was served upon the District Magistrate, Azamgarh on 30.7.2007 and was also subsequently sent by Registered post on 8.10.2007. In such circumstances, the order should have been complied with.
However, another opportunity is given to the District Magistrate, Azamgarh to decide the application filed by the petitioner for grant of fire arm licence within a period of two weeks from the date of service of this order as also the earlier order.
The contempt petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
