One of the direction sought in this petition is for a mandamus upon the appellate court to pass an order on the stay application filed by the petitioner in the appeal that had been filed against the order dated 6th December, 2006 by which the fair price shop license of the petitioner had been suspended.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, we dispose of this petition with a direction to the appellate court to pass an appropriate order on the stay application expeditiously preferably within a period of six weeks from the date a certified copy of the order is produced by the petitioner before the appellate court provided of course the stay application has not been decided as yet.
