The prayer made in the writ petition is for directing the respondents to release the interest on GPF amounting to Rs.7,52,266/- upto 31.12.2005 to the petitioner as the amount was paid in January 2006, whereas he was retired on 28.2.2005, with a further prayer to pay the interest on the delayed payment of pension and pensionary benefits as there was no pending enquiry against him and he had submitted the required papers well within time.

For the aforementioned relief claimed in the present writ petition, the petitioner has already got served a legal notice dated 1.2.2006 (P-3), upon the respondents.

Without going into the merits of the case, we deem it just and appropriate to direct respondent No.2 to take cognizance of the legal notice sent by the petitioner and decide the same expeditiously preferably within a period of two months from the date a certified copy of this order is presented to him. If the claim of the petitioner is found to be meritorious and decided in his favour then the benefit accruing to the petitioner shall be given within a further period of two months thereafter. It shall be appreciated if a speaking order is passed.

Petition stands disposed of in the above terms.
