State of Punjab
CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE VINEY MITTAL AND
HON'BLE MR.JUSTICE H.S.BHALLA.
Present:- Sh. A. K. Walia, Advocate
for the petitioners.
The petitioners have approached this Court challenging the communication dated November 16, 2006 (Annexure P-5) whereby after the written test for filling up of the vacancies of Stamp Vendors out of the passed candidates only, three times the number of vacancies to be filled, have been called for interview.
It has been averred by the petitioners that the aforesaid mode of selection adopted by the respondent-State was wholly contrary to the principles of fair selection inasmuch as, the petitioners have also cleared the written examination.
After hearing learned counsel for the petitioners and taking into consideration the averments made in the present petition, we are satisfied that the grievance made by the petitioners is wholly un-justified.
The mode of selection adopted by the respondents is wholly fair and justified keeping in view the large number of candidates, who cleared the written examination. It is not disputed by the petitioners that interview letters are to be sent to persons, who have passed the written test, as per their merit position.
Keeping in view the aforesaid fact, the present petition is devoid of any merit.
