Shri M.C.Berry, Senior Deputy Advocate General,Punjab.

Shri Puneet Jain, Advocate, for respondent No.2.

Viney Mittal,J.(Oral)

Prayer made in the application is allowed. Reply of respondent No.2 is taken on record.

The petitioners have approached this court under section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for quashing FIR No.14 dated January 13,2000 registered with Police Station Division No.5, Ludhiana, under section 406, 409, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and all the consequential proceedings taken thereupon.

The primary ground taken for quashing of the FIR in question is that the matter has been amicably settled between the petitioners and complainant, respondent No.2.

Written reply has been filed on behalf of respondent No.2.

Learned counsel appearing for respondent No.2 also states that the matter has since been compromised between the petitioners and respondent No.2.

Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case; that the matter has been amicably settled between the parties and no useful purpose will be served to continue the proceedings in the criminal court,I deem it appropriate to quash the FIR against the petitioners and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom.

Consequently, the present petition is allowed and the FIR No.14 dated January 13,2000 registered with Police Station Division No.5, Ludhiana, under section 406,409 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code is ordered to be quashed. As a result thereof all the criminal proceedings, pending before the criminal court also stand quashed.
