Binder Singh v. State of Punjab. - CRM-24863-M-2006 RD-P&H 3447 (25 May 2006)
Binder Singh vs State of Punjab.
Present : Mr.D.S.Bali, Sr.Advocate, with Mr.Salil Bali, Advocate,
Mr.B.S.Baath, AAG, Punjab.
The petitioner seeks grant of regular bail in case FIR No.122, dated 1.4.2004, registered under Section 306 of the IPC (charge framed under Section 302 of the IPC), at Police Station Kotwali, Patiala, District Patiala.
I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the record.
The petitioner is alleged to have set his wife on fire. The gravity of the offence disentitles him to the grant of bail. Consequently, the present petition is dismissed. However, as the petitioner has been behind bars for the last two years and three months, the trial Court is directed to make every endeavour to conclude the trial within six months from the next date of hearing.
