The prayer made in the writ petition is for issuance of direction to the respondents to grant the petitioners the benefit of work-charge continuous service towards qualifying service for pension and other retrial benefits, including the benefits of 8/18 and 10/20 years of service in view of annexures P-1 and P-3.
C.W.P. No. 9851 of 2006 
For the aforementioned relief claimed in the present writ petition, the petitioners have already got served a legal notice dated 27.3.2006 (P-4), upon the respondents.
Without going into the merits of the case, we deem it just and appropriate to direct the respondents to take cognizance of the legal notice sent by the petitioners and decide the same expeditiously preferably within a period of four months from the date a certified copy of this order is presented to them. If the claim of the petitioners is found to be meritorious and decided in their favour then the benefit accruing to the petitioners shall be disbursed within a further period of three months thereafter. It shall be appreciated if the judgment dated October 31, 2000 (P-1) and June 2, 1988, (P-3) are kept in view and a speaking order is passed.
Petition stands disposed of in the above terms.
