In this writ petition the petitioner has prayed for the issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari for quashing the appointment of respondent No. 4 as religious teacher in Gurmat College, Patiala and for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No. 1 to 3 to consider and appoint the petitioner to the post of Religious teacher in Gurmat College, Patiala.
Counsel for respondent No. 4 has filed Civil Misc.
application No. 10624 of 2006 stating therein that the petitioner was selected as Lecturer in Religious Studies w.e.f. 17.1.2006 and has joined as Lecturer in Religious Studies in the Department of Religious Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Bhavan, Punjabi University, Patiala, w.e.f. 25.1.2006.
He has prayed that on this ground the writ petition has become infructuous and be disposed of as such.
Notice of this application was given to the petitioner and as per the office report the petitioner has been duly served for August 22, 2006.
On 22.8.2006, this application alongwith the writ petition was directed to be listed for final hearing. No one has appeared on behalf of the petitioner in spite of service.
I have perused the application as well as the case file. The application is supported by an affidavit.
The writ petition is disposed of as having been rendered infructuous. It is, however, directed that in case the petitioner has any grievance surviving it shall be open to him to seek the revival of this writ petition.
