JUDGMENT

The writ petition is filed with the following prayer:-

(i) issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction compelling the first respondent to take immediate steps to verify the records relating to the Provident Fund Account of the petitioner by an officer other than the second respondent and the staff under him within a prescribed time in order to find out the actual amount due to the petitioner. There is also a prayer for interest at the rate of 18%. There is no counter affidavit. Placing reliance on Ext.P4 remittance particulars it is submitted that huge amounts are still to be paid to the petitioner. There will be a direction to the first respondent to look into the grievance of the petitioner permitting the petitioner to peruse the records and to take appropriate action to settle the dues to the petitioner in her provident fund account. It is made clear that she shall also be paid the statutory interest. The needful in this regard shall be done by the first respondent with notice to the petitioner within a period of three months from the date of production of a copy of this judgment along with a OP NO.19036/2002 copy of the writ petition. In the event of delay beyond the said period the petitioner will be entitled to get interest at the rate of 12% and the officers responsible for the delay will be personally liable for the same. The writ petition is disposed of as above.
