The Hon'ble MR. Justice K.K.DENESAN

K.K.DENESAN, JW.P.(C)NO. 8890 of 2007
Dated this the 16th day of March, 2007
The petitioner is working as Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector in the Transport Department. It is contended that he is eligible to be promoted to the post of Motor Vehicle Inspector and from there to the post of Joint RTO. But his claim is not taken up for consideration since the respondents have not convened the meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee, both lower and higher. Counsel submits that in the matter of convening the meeting of the DPC for selecting eligible persons for promotion to the higher categories, the respondents are bound by the statutory rules and since that duty has not been discharged, the petitioner had made a request as per Ext.P2 addressed to the first respondent. But nothing has been done so far.
2. Heard the Government Pleader for the respondents.
3. In the circumstances, there shall be an order directing W.P.(C)No. 8890/2007 :2: the respondents to fix the date for convening the DPC (lower) as also DPC (higher) for appointment to the post of Motor Vehicle Inspector and that of Joint Regional Transport Officer. The date thus fixed shall be communicated to the petitioner in reply to Ext.P2 representation. This shall be done within one month from the date of receipt of a copy of the judgment. The petitioner shall produce a copy of the judgment and a copy of the writ petition before respondents 1 and 2 for information and action.
