This is letter writ petition filed by the petitioner allegeding therein about extortion of money from the prisoners in Central Jail, Ajmer and taking commission in purchase of goods and also torturing the prisoners in jail. To this effect, the petitioner also filed some news glimpses of the news papers and requested that enquiry may be made regarding misappropriation and mismanagement taking place in central Jail, Ajmer.

In response to the letter petition, the State has filed reply submitting therein that after observing that such unwarranted activities are undertaken in

Central Jail, Ajmer, to this effect FIR No. 180/2003 dated 15.07.2003 has been registered at C.P.S., A.C.B.,

Jaipur and the matter is under investigation.

It is further submitted that since action has already been taken in the matter, nothing survives in this writ petition and the same be dismissed being misconceived.

Having considered the allegations levelled by the petitioner which are found to be correct by the respondent upon enquiry and FIR has already been registered, in such circumstances, I deem it proper to direct the respondent to investigate the matter thoroughly, specifically with regard to the allegations levelled by the petitioner regarding extortion of money, torturing, misappropriation and taking commission in purchase of goods and if anybody is found guilty of such act, action be taken against such person/s by lodging criminal complaint as well as administrative action against such person.

I also deem it proper to direct the I.G.

(Prison) and the jail authorities to investigate the matter pertains to other jails of the State to prevent such type of activities.

With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.

A copy of this order be sent to the I.G.

(Prison).
