1. The petitioner was granted domicile certificate on 25.11.2004. It was cancelled on 4.5.2005, hence the present writ petition.

2. We have heard counsel for the petitioner and standing counsel for the respondents.

3. The petitioner in paragraph 14 of the writ petition has mentioned that no opportunity was given to him before passing any order. The standing counsel was granted time for filing counter affidavit. No counter affidavit was filed. In view of this, order dated 4.5.2005  is quashed. It would be open to the respondent to pass fresh order after giving opportunity to the petitioner.  With these observations the writ petition is allowed.
